Manuel Neuer and Bayern Munich have started talks with the aim of extending their cooperation until 2026.

Manuel Neuer and Bayern Munich have opened a round of contacts in order to reach an agreement to extend the contract of the 38-year-old goalkeeper.

According to the Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, the negotiations are at a very good stage and now only the details remain for the two sides to shake hands on the contract extension until 2026.

The intention of both Neuer and the Bavarian management is to continue the partnership between them, which began in 2011, when the German goalkeeper left Schalke for Bayern.

The report was confirmed by the club’s sporting director, Max Eberle, who said: Talks are on the right track and it’s just a matter of finalizing the final details. Both sides will be happy when the contacts are over. I can’t say yet exactly when that will happen.

Neuer has made 19 appearances this season and is expected to return to action in January following his recent rib injury.
