After Willy and René van de Kerkhof and Frank and Ronald de Boer, twins were on the field at the same time for the third time in the history of the Dutch national team. ‘That was a very special moment. It is certainly an honor to be able to play for the Dutch national team, and we have now been selected together twice.’
“And we also played together in both international matches,” Quinten continues. ‘That is special and fun to experience.’ Jurriën is also proud that he is in Orange together with his brother. ‘The two of you are among the best 23 football players in the Netherlands. That’s hard. Very few players can say that.’
Yet there also appears to be room to put things into perspective. “That is special, but at the same time it is not the case that we are very consciously working on this,” says Quinten. ‘That also has to do with football life. We go from match to match, everything happens so quickly that you don’t really have time to think about it. We’re in the middle of it.’
