Bosvelt receives a conditional fine after criticizing the referee with the middle finger

Paul Bosvelt has been imposed a conditional fine of 1,000 euros by the KNVB for his critical statements after the FC Utrecht-Go Ahead Eagles match.

The technical manager of Go Ahead Eagles made this statement on his social media because he disagreed with decisions made by referee Sander van der Eijk in the match at FC Utrecht (3-3).

Bosvelt posted a photo with a middle finger with the text, among other things: “What a scandalous display by the referee today.” The football association believes that he has ‘damaged the interests of football’ with this action.

Bosvelt, a former midfielder for Feyenoord and Manchester City, among others, was furious about the red card given to Go Ahead Eagles player Enric Llansana. That red card was later dismissed.

In addition, Bosvelt did not understand the extra minutes that were added to injury time. “You are destroying football,” he wrote to the KNVB and the referees.

Bosvelt later regretted it and apologized to the KNVB on his own initiative.
