Lookman and Banda best African football players, former Premier League players in the best team

Ademola Lookman and Barbra Banda have been voted African Footballer and Footballer of the Year 2024 at the CAF awards in the Moroccan city of Marrakech.

Three former Premier League players received an honorable mention: André Onana, Mohammed Kudus (both ex-Ajax) and Sofyan Amrabat (ex-FC Utrecht and Feyenoord) were chosen in the African team of the year.

Nowadays, Onana plays for the English top club Manchester United, while Kudus is under contract with another Premier League club: West Ham United.

Amrabat played on loan for Manchester United in the first half of 2024. The Moroccan midfielder currently plays for coach José Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe.

Lookman was the star for Atalanta this year in the 3-0 Europa League final win against Bayer Leverkusen. With a hat trick, the Nigerian attacker gave his Italian employer the first European prize in club history.

The good trend was continued by both Lookman and Atalanta Bergamo in the autumn. The club is currently in first place in the Italian Serie A. Lookman has already scored eight times in thirteen games and provided an assist four times.
