Giannis Tima: The former Olympiakos player was found dead

According to reports from Russia, the former Olympiakos player, Giannis Tima, was found dead at the age of just 32. Reports speak of suicide.

Shock in the world of European basketball as according to what is reported by a publication from the Russian news.ruo Yannis Tima was found dead outside an apartment building in Moscow.

The 32-year-old also played in the Greek courts in the 2018-19 season on behalf of Olympiakou while according to publications which were released, he allegedly committed suicide and his cell phone was found next to his body where the Latvian forward had put the phrase “Call Anna” as screensaver which means “call Anna”.

According to the reports, it concerns his ex-wife, Anna Sedokovawith whom he broke up some time ago.

The career of Yannis Tima

Tima was born on July 2, 1992 and made his first basketball steps in Riga, making his professional debut with Liepaja Louva in the 2011-12 season. From 2012 to 2014 he played in Ventspils while in 2014-15 he returned to Riga. In 2015 he took the big step and went to Zenit St. Petersburg where he stayed until 2017 when he joined Baskonia.

He followed in his footsteps Olympic for the 2018-19 season, before returning to Russia again, this time for Khimki. He stayed there for 2 years, while also passing through Unix Kazan. In 2022 he went to the other side of the Atlantic for the Lakeland Magic of the G League from where he left for the Grices de Humacao in Puerto Rico in the same season (2022-23).

In 2023 he returned to Darussafaka while in 2024 he became a player of Obradeiro. In 2013, the Memphis Grizzlies acquired his rights in the 2013 draft while he was a member of the Latvian national team.

With his jersey Olympiakou at her level Euroleague he averaged 3.4 points with 0.9 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 11:31 minutes on the court.
