Enes Ünal gave AFC Bournemouth a draw against West Ham United on Monday evening. Andoni Iraola’s men fell behind late in the game, but the former FC Twente player wonderfully made it 1-1 in this Premier League match.
The faithful in the Vitality Stadium saw a nice first half. West Ham had the better chances in the first half and came closest to the first goal through Jarrod Bowen, who hit the crossbar on a pass from Mohammed Kudus. The Ghanaian played an excellent first half anyway. Bournemouth also hit the post, Antoine Semenyo hit the aluminum from the edge of sixteen.
The home team was a lot better after the break. Semeyo, Dango Ouattara and Ryan Christie all had opportunities to open the scoring, but their shots were deflected by a London defender or goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski. The Pole remained an obstacle and also had an excellent reflex on Evanilson’s header. On the other side, Dean Huijsen played the role of saving angel, he intervened just in time so that Kudus could not score.
Five minutes before the end, just after Justin Kluivert had been replaced at Bournemouth, the guests had a golden opportunity to win. After VAR deliberation, a handball by Tyler Adams resulted in a penalty for West Ham, which had just brought Crysensio Summerville into the team. The Hammers once had a certainty from eleven meters with Mark Noble, but Lucas Paquetá could also send you a message: 0-1.
That seemed to settle the matter, but that was beyond Ünal’s control. It took something special to beat Fabianski on this night, and the Turkish striker had something brilliant hidden in his boots. With an unprecedented free kick from more than 25 meters, he outwitted Fabianski and thus saved a point.
Bournemouth continues to do excellently and is sixth in the Premier League. West Ham is a little further away from the danger zone and is now thirteenth. Brighton & Hove Albion will visit the London Stadium on Saturday. This weekend, Bournemouth will again meet a team that is at the bottom of the Premier League: Manchester United is the opponent.
