The eight proposals submitted by PSAKK to the EEC

Representation of the Board of Directors of the Panhellenic Association of Paid Basketball Players met with the president of the EEC, Vangelis Liolios and his direct partner, Dino Sverkuno and tabled eight proposals aimed at improving the Elite League and A1 Women.

The announcement in detail:

“The most important meeting until the next one was held by the president of the EEC Vangelis Liolios with a delegation of the Board of Directors of the PSAKK.

The two sides discussed many issues concerning the present but mainly the future of Greek basketball, both for the men’s and women’s championships.

From the side of the Federation were the President Vangelis Liolios and the General Director Dinos Sverkounos, while from the PSAKK, the Vice President Manolis Hatzidakis, the treasurer Fotis Vasilopoulos, the General Director Costas Alexandridis and the Legal Adviser Yiannis Papageorgopoulos.

The Panhellenic Association of Paid Basketball Players submitted some proposals and with the positions of the Federation it seems that the two bodies have a common vision.

The proposals of PSAKK and the positions of the Federation:

1. Private agreement for the provision of sports services in the A1 Women’s and Elite League championships. The Federation was positive and committed to propose to the unions the start of the agreement from the 2025-26 championship.

2. Medical coverage of athletes in the A1 Women’s and Elite League championships. The criterion for participation in the championship will be the insurance form of athletes, at least one month before the start of the championships. It was agreed that one month before the start of the championships from the 2025-26 season, the form will be considered necessary for their participation, since the Federation covers the insurance costs.

3. Non-acceptance of the Federation to a possible proposal to increase the number of foreigners in Stoiximan GBL. The position of the Federation is that there should be no increase and that we work together to study the reduction of foreigners.

4. No increase in foreign athletes in the Elite League. The commitment of the Federation was that there would be no change in these categories.

5. Medical coverage for athletes participating in the Federation’s 3X3 championships and coverage of their contracts in case of injuries. Medical coverage is provided by FIBA ​​and the Federation has stated that it will make an effort to find a way to cover the contracts in case of injuries, as long as they have been submitted to the EEC in time.

6. Change of an athlete as in the case of foreigners, outside the December transfer period for A1 Women and Elite League. According to the EEC, from the 2025-26 season, there will be an athlete movement for A1 Women and Elite League.

7. Women’s All Star Game from EEC-PSAKK. The Federation has agreed to hold a women’s All Star Game in collaboration with PSAKK.

8. Initiation of study for full professionalization of A1 Women. The EEC agreed on the viability research of the teams, so that the A1 Women’s clubs can be converted into TAK or KAE.

Also, in order to strengthen the Association, the EEC will make every possible effort, so that the memberships of the athletes who will compete in the A1 Women’s and Elite League are paid to the PSAKK by the unions”.
