Olympiacos dominated in Mets over Panathinaikos. The Piraeus won 3-1, advanced to the final of the League Cup and dethroned the “greens” who had won the last three competitions.
This year’s will have a new owner League Cupas after the successive conquests o Panathinaikos left out of the final. In fact, he was left out of the final by an excellent one Olympicwith them Piraeus even though they were playing without him Mitar Djuric to prevail with 3-1 (21-25, 25-15, 20-25, 21-25) and qualify for the final. There on December 11 at Arta they will face its winner PAOK – OFI which will be held tomorrow Thursday.
Panathinaikos pressed the serve and entered the game but Olympiacos made it 0-1
But let’s take things from the beginning and the first set. A set in which the visitors entered strongly and managed to take an early three-point lead (1-4). A difference that they then increased by reaching 4 (8-12). At that point the “greens” pressed even more on the serve and managed not only to reduce, but also to equalize at 17-17. But again, the guests reacted with a 3-0 and practically everything ended there, even though the players of Dimitris Andreopoulos were reduced to a point. They had no other strength and Olympiacos made it 0-1 taking the set 21-25.
With a walk 1-1 the “greens”
In the second set, Panathinaikos completely dominated. Actually he did it after 8-7. At that point Nielsen went to serve and the hosts made it 6-0 and it was all over there. The Piraeus team tried to get back into the set, but making one mistake after another, they couldn’t do it with the shamrocks comfortably tying the set, taking the set 25-15.
Derby until 18-18 and then a 5-0 for Olympiakos gave him the lead
In the third set we had the biggest derby, with the two teams not just going together, but giving us an excellent spectacle. Panathinaikos was ahead with Olympiakos equalizing and that’s how we reached 18-18, the point where the set was decided. And it was decided because the visitors went on a 5-0 run pressing on serve and managed to take a 2-1 lead to win 20-25.
Olympiacos took the 4th place more comfortably than 21-25 shows
In the fourth and last set, as the set unfolded, we again had a derby at the start with the two teams going together until 14-14. At this point the guests took a two point lead which they then increased to 4 (15-19) taking a big lead of victory. A victory secured in the next point, with Gardini getting a video check and being vindicated and thus becoming +5 which despite the efforts of the home team could not be overturned with Olympiakos taking the victory 3-1 and together with the qualification to the final.
First scorer for the winners o Koumendakis with 16 points and was followed by Past and Atanasiewicz with 13. For the defeated o Nielsen he was 21, o Gusman 17 and o Well done 11.
