NAC Breda released a short statement on Sunday evening in response to the accusations made by Willem II player Jeremy Bokila against NAC player Matthew Garbett.
The people of Breda write on their website that Bokila wrongly accused their player Matthew Garbett of a racist insult. ‘Garbett does not recognize the player’s accusation at all. According to him, the allegation is based on an incorrect perception. This is underlined by readings from various eyewitnesses. Garbett has contacted Bokila to clear up this misunderstanding,” NAC writes.
Of Pearl of the South confirms that something unpleasant has happened, and efforts are currently being made to get to the bottom of the matter. ‘NAC does not dispute that something happened and is actively in discussions with Willem II to further investigate the event on the basis of statements and images.’ NAC, the club writes, distances itself from any form of racism.
