The K. Nikolakopoulos records in his gazzetta blog the last nine results of Olympiakos after the league break and comments.

It is one of the particularities of tomorrow’s derby that the two opponents, Olympiacos and AEK, come from a break in the championship. And I don’t know about AEK, but for Olympiacos it is not the best thing to play after the league has been interrupted! And not only this season.

Let’s remember what Olympiacos had done in their last nine league games after a holiday:

It’s obvious that vacations are equivalent to disasters for Olympiakos! In nine games he has won only once (!), has five draws (of which four in Karaiskakis…) and three defeats (of which two by AEK). The other awesome thing is that out of the five draws, two games in his stadium, with Aris and Levadeiakos, he won 2-0 and finally it was tied 2-2! And another draw at home, with Panathinaikos, turned into his disaster, as the game was stopped and he lost 0-3 on paper.

Consider impossible to have another team with such results in the last year and a half as those of Olympiakos after a league break. With different coaches, Mitchell, Martinez, Carvalhal, Mendiliber! This means one thing: the Olympiacos players are responsible. International and non-international. They are the ones who don’t do something right during the league holidays and show up in such a way that they lose in Lamia, they can’t beat Panaitolikos in Karaiskakis, not even Aris and Levadeiakos when they are leading 2-0 and in three derbies with AEK have two defeats and one draw.

Without concentration and determination now in football you can’t beat anyone. And this is exactly what happens to the Olympiakos players. During the league holidays, they lose their concentration, don’t get into most of their games and end up with a fatigue that suggests an unprofessional mentality during these holiday periods.

I want to hope that this time they will have understood the seriousness of the situation and the derby with AEK and we will see a normal Olympiakos. It depends on them.

Irrelevant: Ese was needed in a game that needs a lot of runs, like the one against AEK. Even as a substitute during the second half, as happened in Toumba with PAOK, he would be valuable.

It will be there will be several changes in the Olympiakos lineup tomorrow compared to the one that beat AEK 2-0 in Karaiskaki last May. Horta, Pontense, Fortunis, Ese will be missed. On the other hand, Retsos will play with Ortega, as then Doi and Apostolopoulos were key in defense.
