Stopped Babel raps and acts in her own film – Voetbal International

Ryan Babel has launched a short film about his own career. The former striker announced his retirement as a footballer two weeks ago.

Babel made his debut for Ajax in 2004 and played his last match as a professional footballer for the Turkish Eyüpspor last year. His CV includes names of clubs such as Liverpool, Hoffenheim, Deportivo La Coruña, Besiktas, Fulham and Galatasaray. Babel became European champion with the Dutch Juniors in 2007 and would eventually play 69 international matches for the great Dutch team. At the beginning of November he announced the end of his football career. Last Saturday, Babel was one of the Dutch internationals who was waved goodbye during the Nations League match against Hungary.

On this Friday, Babel released a short film titled AFTER THE WHISTLE. In it he shows how a little boy from Amsterdam became a professional football player in stadiums such as the Johan Cruijff Arena and Anfield Road. The film shows real images, but parts of his story are also acted out. Babel himself compiles several parts of the production.
