Feyenoord misses Timber and Bijlow, but has Stengs back against Heerenveen – Voetbal International

Good and bad news from Feyenoord’s infirmary in the run-up to the match against SC Heerenveen. Quinten Timber and Justin Bijlow cannot join yet, but Calvin Stengs, Antoni Milambo and Julian Carranza, among others, will be back.

Timber
The biggest news is the absence of Timber. The Feyenoord captain was a normal member of the Dutch national team, although he did not play any match minutes. During the training after Hungary at home, Timber stepped out and that was not a coincidence, Brian Priske stated at the press conference.

‘He’s having ankle problems again. He has played a lot of games and perhaps played more minutes than was wise, but because of all the injuries we had little choice,” began the Dane, who immediately put on the brakes. ‘He trained individually today and is feeling a bit better, but we shouldn’t push too much now. We pay the price and that’s how it is.’

Bijlow
Bijlow is also still not present this Saturday. The goalkeeper seemed to be on the sidelines for a short period of time, but he is therefore not yet available after the international break. ‘It’s not something big, he trained this week and also yesterday and today. When it comes to muscle injuries, it can sometimes take a little longer. We want to be careful when it comes to him.”

Stengs and other returning players
“We are also getting players back,” said Priske, referring to Stengs, Milambo and Carranza. For Stengs it is the first time since the beginning of September that he has been included in the match selection. ‘We know how far we can go with him. But we don’t want to push him too far. Sometimes that has to be done and players know that, but we will take it easy. At least he can make minutes,” he said.

Jordan Lotomba is also close to a return. In any case, the right back will be spared for the match against Heerenveen. According to Priske, this is also due to the upcoming match with Manchester City in the Champions League. For example, Givairo Read cannot play in that match because he is not registered. Finally, Santiago Gimenez is also doing well. The Mexican will join Rotterdam again at very short notice.
