Cruijff Football is organizing an international youth tournament at the end of this year in which teams from some of the best clubs in the world will compete against each other. Ajax, Barcelona, Manchester City and Internazionale, among others, are participating. And everything revolves around Johan Cruijff’s football philosophy.
Between December 5 and 8, youth teams from international top teams will meet in Salou, a place just south of Barcelona. More than 90 teams and 1,600 children from all over the world come together for the tournament. During those four days, the players, between the ages of ten and nineteen, should above all enjoy themselves, according to one of Cruijff’s principles.
“It is an honor to announce the first edition of this tournament,” chairman Jordi Cruijff says on the website. ‘We are proud that we have created a tournament where young players from different schools come together, have fun and compete.’
‘It is also special for us that teams like Barcelona and Ajax are present, because they meant so much to my father. Just like Manchester City, with whom he had a special bond through Pep Guardiola. We hope it will be fantastic.’ A total of clubs from seventeen different countries participate. Mostly from Europe, but also from further afield, teams will travel to the Spanish seaside resort.
Ajax is not the only Dutch club present at the tournament. Vitesse will also send a delegation.
