Norway: latest news

Having a fairly stellar squad, Norway did not qualify for Euro 2024, finishing only 3rd in a group with Spain, Scotland, Georgia and Cyprus. The head coach of the national team, Ståle Solbakken, got another chance after such a failure and now the team is already fighting for victory in the group and access to Division A of the Nations League. Although there were some setbacks in the results, including a defeat by Austria – 1:5 and a draw with the same Kazakhstan in the 1st round. But the Norwegians had no problems with Slovenia – defeats in both matches. The team’s attacking line is in good shape. Holland, who found himself in a crisis with Manchester City, scored a goal and an assist against Slovenia, and Leipzig forward Antonio Nusa scored a brace.

The main goalkeeper of the national team and Sevilla Nyland, as well as Brentford defenders Aer and Mainz Ganche-Olsen will miss the match with Kazakhstan due to injuries. Martin Odegaard received a call-up, but subsequently returned to Arsenal, although before that he played a full match against Chelsea and even scored an assist. Martin himself said that he is not 100% ready to play, so he will recover after an injury at the club.

To win the group, the Norwegians need to beat the Kazakhs and hope for the Austrians to lose points in the match with Slovenia.

Norway’s estimated lineup: Selwick – Pedersen, Estigor, Heggham, Rierson – Thorsby, Berge, Jonsen – Serlot, Holland, Noosa.

Kazakhstan: latest news

In the previous Nations League, Kazakhstan unexpectedly won Division C group with Azerbaijan, Slovakia and Belarus. Separately, two victories over Slovakia should be noted.

The Kazakhs also performed well in the qualification for Euro 2024 – although they took 4th place, they got 18 points and victories over Denmark, Finland, and Northern Ireland (twice). The team received an additional chance to get to the Euro thanks to the victory in the Nations League group, but lost without a chance to the Greek team.

In the summer, a specialist from the swamps, Stanislav Cherchesov, was invited to the coaching bridge, under whose leadership the team scored only 1 point in 5 matches and returned to division C ahead of schedule.

The disqualified Marochkin, who was sent off against Austria, will not play for the Kazakhs.

Estimated composition of Kazakhstan: Pokotilov – Astanov, Kasim, Darabaev, Zhumakhanov, Vorogovsky – Islamkhan, Zainutdinov, Tagibergen, Samorodov – Aimbetov.
