Pogba, suspended until March due to doping, is leaving Juventus

Paul Pogba will leave Juventus on a free transfer at the end of this month, the Italian club reports. The French midfielder has been under contract with Juventus since 2022, but has barely played due to a doping penalty.

The 31-year-old Pogba tested positive for the banned muscle-enhancing drug in August 2023 after a match against Udinese. On February 29, he was retroactively suspended for four years by the Italian Anti-Doping Agency. The sentence was later shortened to one and a half years, allowing him to play football again from March.

Between 2016 and 2022, Pogba played for Manchester United, which paid 105 million for him to Juventus. In 2018 he became world champion with France.

In recent years, Pogba has mainly struggled with injuries. He also had to deal with an extortion case, symptoms of depression and subsequently his doping suspension. It is unclear why he has to leave Juventus and where Pogba’s future lies.
