Cristiano Ronaldo will stop playing football within one or two years. The Portugal captain said this after the match against Poland, in which he pulled off a bicycle kick from his arsenal at the age of 39.
Ronaldo was once again the big man for Portugal on Friday evening. The striker had two goals and one assist. His bicycle kick in minute 87 of the match was the highlight of the evening. Ronaldo added two more goals to his insane goal total. That now stands at 910, bringing the magical limit of 1000 closer. The famous number seven himself is not really concerned about it. ‘The 1000 goals don’t matter at all to me. Wanting to achieve that is normal, but I don’t think about it,” said the Al-Nassr striker, who is even slowly planning the end of his career.
“It will happen in one or two years,” said Ronaldo, who will turn 40 on February 5, 2025. ‘It’s about enjoying the moment and football. You have to go to training and competitions motivated. I’m committed to still playing at 40. I’m taking it easy and enjoying it.’
Portugal will play Croatia next Wednesday. Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva and Pedro Neto will no longer be among them. The foursome gets some rest. Roberto Martínez has called up Fábio Silva and Geovany Quenda as replacements, he said.
