In 1974, Argentina and Adidas started their collaboration and to this day the two parties are still linked. The shirt that is now being launched is inspired by the shirt worn during the 1974 World Cup. The old Adidas logo is embroidered on the shirt and the old jersey numbers have also been taken into account.
The Dutch national team also appears in the video that Adidas and the Argentinian association launched together. What exactly is meant is not entirely clear, but it seems to have to do with the World Cups of 1974 and 1978 in which the Argentinians faced the Dutch team. In 1978, Argentina defeated the Netherlands in the final and that was the first time they won the world title.
