Why Heracles Almelo is not shocked by a loss of millions – Voetbal International

Heracles Almelo is not confused by the loss of millions that the club suffered last season. The Almelo residents mention record turnover in the annual report, but also saw costs rise to great heights. General manager Rob Toussaint explains why financial affairs at Heracles are going according to plan.

HIt took some getting used to when Heracles Almelo presented the financial figures for last season at the end of October. After all, it does not often happen in recent history that the people of Almelo suffer a significant loss. Okay, in the 2021/22 season Heracles’ net result was also negative, but that also involved some corona problems. Furthermore, the frugal policy, inspired by former chairman Jan Smit, who did not spend a euro that had not first been earned, lasted.

This time, however, Heracles presented a loss of millions. 3.2 million to be precise, which takes a big bite out of equity. Heracles’ turnover rose to a record high, but costs rose almost as fast. There are clubs where alarm bells go off when more than three million euros are spent too much, but that is not the case in Almelo. Heracles already reported during the presentation of the annual figures that the large loss fits in with the plans made last year.
