DThe unique situation that Ziggo Sport started broadcasting all European football caused quite a stir in the Netherlands. But the viewer has adapted fairly quickly.
“Ziggo has really thrown a lot of money at it to inform people,” says Woerts. ‘If you look at the number of complaints, I think it’s not too bad. There has been no popular uprising in the Netherlands. You have lost customers and hundreds of thousands of viewers. Ajax and Feyenoord recently attracted around five hundred to six hundred thousand viewers in Europe. This used to be 1.3 million. There are simply fewer people watching European football now.’
