The Dutch baseball players did not get through the group stage of the Premier 12, the unofficial World Cup. The Dutch had to win their last game against leader Venezuela in Guadalajara, but after seven hopeless innings the Dutch team was on its back: 0-11.

Venezuela had beaten the Dutch 9-3 and 10-0 in the qualification for the 2021 Olympic Games and the proportions appeared to have changed anything but. The South Americans led 8-0 after three innings. At 7-0, pitcher Shairon Martis (eight hits against) was taken off the mound.

The Netherlands is no match for Venezuela at Prime Minister 12

Successor Juancarlos Sulbarán did what he could, but he also got four hits (two homeruns). Scott Prins collected the eleventh point.

The Dutch team was powerless offensively and could only manage three singles. Dwayne Kemp’s beautiful catches were the useless bright spots.
